Criminal Justice in Action – This course introduces students to the study of criminology and the key concepts used to understand crime in society. Students will learn how crime is defined and measured, as well as how it impacts victims and communities. The course covers the most common categories of crime, including violent, property, white-collar, and organized crime. Global issues such as narcotics trafficking and terrorism are also explored to highlight the international dimension of criminology. In addition, students will study major theories that explain why crime occurs, ranging from rational choice perspectives to social and individual factors. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of the foundations of criminology and its role in shaping justice systems.
